About this Project

A special exhibit was mounted at the Bernard Becker Medical Library in 1991 to celebrate the Centennial of the Washington University School of Medicine. This digital exhibit preserves that physical exhibit, which is on permanent display on the Library’s first floor.

The original exhibit was researched and written by Marion Hunt and Paul Anderson, and mounted with the help of a faculty advisory committee consisting of:

Paul Anderson, Ph.D.
Bernard Becker, M.D.
Carl Frieden, Ph.D.
Carlton Hunt, M.D.

Marion Hunt, Ph.D.
M. Kenton King, M.D.
Paul Lacy, M.D.
William Landau, M.D.

The North and South Buildings of the Washington University School of Medicine, ca. 1915. The buildings were built in time for the start of the 1914-15 academic year. The formal dedication of the buildings was held on April 29 and 30, 1915.

The original exhibit was made possible through the generosity of C. Barber Mueller:

This display is dedicated to
Those men and women of the faculty
Who so enriched my life
As I passed by . . . 1938-1956.
