Lucille S. Spalding, 1942
1st Lt. Lucille S. Spalding, a graduate of the Washington University School of Nursing, was an assistant professor of nursing at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio when she was called to active duty at the end of December 1941. Spalding was named Chief Nurse of the 21st General Hospital in early January 1942.
