Arrival of casualties, Base Hospital 21, Rouen, France
Casualties were transported from the various fronts to Rouen by hospital train. Motor ambulances transferred the patients the two miles between the train station and the Base Hospital. Base Hospital 21 received patients wounded in fighting in the Somme area at the southern end of the line held by the British forces, as well as casualties from the October 1917 Flanders offensive and the March 1918 German drive toward Amiens.
