Joseph Carson’s work is an impressive two-volume set on materia medica. J. H. Colen is credited for the illustrations; but it is interesting to note that some of them were drawn and colored by Carson himself. This gifted botanist turned physician published widely, and was regarded as an excellent teacher at the University of Pennsylvania, where he served as a professor. |
