This book is based on Fuchs’s earlier work, De historia stirpium, but a new set of small wood blocks was prepared in France to print this miniaturized version. Although plant names appear in five languages, the publication is devoid of any other text. The size (4 7/8" x 3 1/8") suggests the book may have been designed as a portable field guide.
